Paint Party Friday

It's been awhile again :/
No particular reason other than playing with the puppy. It's kind of like having a baby and all of your time goes into caring for it and training it .
How can you not just want to spend all day long loving on this little sweetie :)
There has been a wee bit of art done. I made a couple of cards with Mandala's on them.
The first one I did right before election day. A form of meditation in a way. A pulling together of thoughts and prayers toward a positive outcome in a no win situation.
The second one was done after the election when the world was shocked by the outcome.
A prayer for guidance and unity . A gather of forces to stand again what may happen and striving towards a peaceful outcome.
I've started a third one...it's still in the drawing and deciding stage .
A resurrection of a symbol of my youth to remind myself that this battle has been fought before and can be done again and again until we get it right.
That we can fix the things that are wrong without destroying the things that are right.
Then on a brighter side the lesson learned today is that I NEED a compass!
drawing circles with out one is not easy.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY

Hello again!
I'm still having difficulty getting back into the swing creating art here. :(  I come in to so something...anything and end up on the computer surfing the net just looking at nothing in particular.
I pulled out an old sketch this week that I was never happy with and tried to improve it and then do some watercolors on it. I'm still calling it a
WIP
as I'm not pleased with how it looks at all.
INCOMPLETE
is what it says to me.
Perhaps I'll try doing some gel pen doodles on it tonight while watching TV.
So after a frustrating art adventure I grabbed the garden tool belt and heading outside to plant a few more bulbs.

Two bags of each kind went into the circle drive flowerbed. So here's hoping that the critters leave them alone and the Spring will be full of beautiful blooms .
That's what's going on in my world this week...how's it going in yours?

Paint Party Friday

Well it seems I've been missing in action much longer than I realized.
Just an extremely busy time for me in the gardens and training the puppy :)

She still spends most of her days playing with her big brother though :)
No art was done the entire time I was away from here ...just didn't even think about it during that time.
Now that cooler weather is here and most of the outside chores are done the art supplies are back out again.
Here's what I worked on yesterday.
I started with a old pencil sketch I had done for 29 Faces a year or 2 ago. This is where she is today and haven't decided if she is finished or not.

T Stands for Tuesday

I'm Late! VERY LATE :(
I'm moving extremely slow today and it is totally my fault. We had a long holiday weekend in the USA and the weather was mild and comfortable. Absolutely beautiful!!!
SO I DID TOO MUCH!
On Friday evening my husband and I decided that since the weather was to be so mild for Saturday that we would get up early and get some long neglected yard work done. It's just been too blasted hot or wet to do it.
Well the morning chores turned into an all day event as we just kept going from one chore to the next.
Then on Sunday morning I was up early again..... because the puppy doesn't know you can sleep in on weekends :(  So I decided to get some tomatoes canned and more cucumbers picked  and pickled.  Which took way longer than I thought it would. I must be moving slower and slower :-/
Then the youngest son came over and he and the husband did some target shooting while I stayed inside and comforted the scared puppy and older dog.
Friends were supposed to come over for pizza but canceled at the last minute which was actually fine by me .. I had used up my energy for the weekend.
Come Monday  the heat was back and we were wiped out from the other two days.
We laid around and read, watched some old movies and took naps. Today I am still dragging but not as sore as yesterday.
Here's my drink for today... iced herbal tea again and a small piece of wood I worked on over the weekend.
The two boys are my dad and his twin brother when they were around 11 years old.  They just turned  86 in August.
The pictures of the boy was taken from this old family photo of them with most of their parents and brothers and sisters....missing one who had moved to Detroit with his family by then.
This is one of those old small 2 inch by 3 inch photos that when you try to enlarge them it gets all fuzzy and out of focus. So I lightened it up and then tried painting the details back in...cutting the two boys out of the photo.
Here is a photo of the 2 of them in July
The one on the right in both pictures is my dad.

Paint Party Friday and 29 Faces in September 2016

Week 26 of Year 6 already, many thanks to Eva & Kristin for keeping us going strong ♥
It's also September so it's time for 29 Faces in September 2016 :-) So today I have my first 2 faces for the month to share.
The first one is in my Faces journal ....
... and then for Face 2 I decided to add a face to one of the home made tea boxes I am painting.

I make a lot of my own herbal tea blends and often give them as gifts so I've started painting boxes I make out of water color paper. This one isn't done yet but will end up looking sort of like this when finished.

That's the art for today. For the 29 Faces Challenge I will probably only post a couple of days a week with multiple faces per post.  I just can't seem to find the time to write a blog post every day any longer :(

Paint Party Friday

WOW! What a great and crazy week it has been here!!! Lots of good things going on but we'll start with my HAPPY NEWS!!
Some of you know that a few weeks ago I rescued a Yorkie puppy off the highway . The owners didn't show up until after 9 days and I was totally attached to the little guy. Plus it was obvious that the owner was not a responsible pet owner and it broke my heart to leave him there.
Well this week my husband surprised me with this little princess...
She's 6 months...completely house trained and came full loaded with accessories.
Her precious owner did not know she was pregnant when she bought her and with two other very small children she didn't think she would be able to give the puppy the attention she needed. So she made the decision to re-home her while she was still young.
Her name is Mini Me and she has completely stolen my heart. She and our other dog get along fantastically and he is so happy to have a playmate....even if she is only weights 7.5 pounds and he weighs 50. :)
This is my husband getting lots of attention from the two dogs ♥
Now to the art. ♥♥♥♥
I'm still working on lessons from the
CHILDREN OF THE WILD
WORKSHOP
Here is the one I finished this week ...
He is painted on a vintage napkin that I adhered to a 12 X 12 in gallery wrapped canvas....
.... then I applied gesso, papers, and texture before painting.
The background has about 6 layers of paints and glazes. I'm very happy with the way this one turned out. :)

Paint Party Friday

Sliding in at the last minute here.
It's been a roller coaster week for me and I'm having trouble getting back into the swing of it. It's happening slowly though.
The rescue puppy that I had fallen in love with was claimed by the owner which broke my heart. After 8 days he had wormed his way into our lives. The saddest part is that I know in my gut the the owner is not a responsible pet owner and the little guy will be running loose again soon.
My Mother also had another small stroke and spent a  3 days in the hospital. She has no permanent damage and they feel she will make a full recovery. It just frazzles us to pieces when she has one of these.
So now I'm trying to catch up with the garden, my sleep ,my peace of mind and squeeze in a bit of art too.
So this is what I started tonight ...
...She's not done but she's presentable at this point. This a piece from the
Children of the Wild
class I am taking here...

Paint Party Friday

TGIF!!!!
It's time to party and what better place than Paint Party Friday !!!
Thanks again for all the work you do Eva and Kristin ♥♥♥♥♥
Still not a whole lot of art going on here... it's still summer and then to even have less time I manage to rescue this adorable Pup from the highway and no one wants to claim him :(
So guess who is trying to teach him how to be a respectable dog in a multi animal home.

Amazingly he and the other dog get along great.
I worried about that :-/

Now the cats are another story all together.
They think he's an alien and he thinks he needs to catch them. It may be a while before a truce is settle there.
For art I finished painting a tea box to reuse as a gift box.

and started on a jewelry gift box...

It's been to hot to really do much outside other than pick what I have to in the vegetable garden. Weeds need pulled in the flowerbeds but maybe next week won't be so hot.
