Paint and tint and funky photos......

I don't remember if I've mentioned it before but I work in the paint department at Home Depot. I enjoy the job especially when I get to get creative with mixing colors and custom matching for customers. 

Also one of the bright stars in my day is when I add the tint to a gallon of paint and it makes a unique abstract design in the paint. 

Now that I have a decent camera on my phone I'm able to take photos of some of the designs. I'm thinking of using them in a collage type painting or maybe some as background for some mixed media work. 

Anyhow I thought I'd share a few with you all here. I think they are soooooo cool!

Paint Party Friday.....Week 29....

What a week I've had here! I actually had a decent schedule at work this week..all day shifts and off by 4 pm!!! Unheard of at my workplace these days. I was actually able to get some things done and have quality time with the hubby to boot :) 

I manage to get 200 flower bulbs planted and some art in the evening too..... which also meant that at the end of the day I was dragging butt and resembled the above painting :) 

I have finally started working on the next phase in my art class....you can say I'm getting farther and farther behind...I know it... but I enjoy each stage so much that I just keep doing it over and over! Good thing this is self paced :)

I am going to try and go a little faster and then this winter when it's cold an yuckie outside I'll just repeat the whole thing again and take my loven time with each stage :) 

In the meantime I bought  200 more flower bulbs and I have to get them into the ground so that come spring I'll have a whole new landscape to admire and paint :)

Paint Party Friday.....Week 28....

I've been busy adding color to my phone book page drawings. 

Playing with watercolor crayons and gesso and lots of other new toys :) 

...learning to add texture and design with unusual items from around the house...

I've never been good at faces so I've mostly avoided them...this class ifs helping me get over that even if they are not realistic faces...it's a start! 

The bottom one is still a work in progress and I'm still thinking it's going to be my favorite....if I don't screw it up along the way :-/

Sunday Sketches

Still working on those non-dominant sketches for my class :) Today I started adding color to some of them.

I've never been really great at faces to begin with and to be working with my left hand has been a trip. I'm also using new mediums for me so I'm having a "BLAST"!!! 

Non of them are really done and may never be ...but I'm learning so much and getting more comfortable with the mediums. 

Just remember these are not supposed to be realistic faces.....just layered impressions :) 

Of course I can think of a few people they do remind me of...but I'll keep that to myself right now :)

Paint Party Friday.....Week 27....

It's been a crazy week here and very little time for any art. I spent 3 days with my sister while her husband had cancer surgery.Very draining on us all but the prognosis is good at this point. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for healing. 

I started an on line  art class this week and the first assignment was drawing faces with our non-dominant hand. 

Here are 3 of my funny little faces that I will be painting with my non-dominant hand hopefully real soon. I really think I'm going to love this class and get a lot out of it !

Sunday Sketches

On one of my rambles through the blog world one of them was about painting and drawing heart shaped faces. Sorry I can't remember who or where. One of those things that I wished later I had bookmarked it because I couldn't get the idea out of my mind.  

It's an acrylic background with a colored pencil and ink drawing. Just something fun and whimsical to lighten the mood  today.

I started a Memorial piece for  9/11 but got so  caught up in the memories of that horrible day that I had to stop. Maybe I'll finish that one  on another date.. it will always be fresh in my mind and heart.
