Paint Party Friday and The Butterfly Effect

It's Friday again!!!!

Time for two of my favorite challenges. 

Every week I say I'm going to get down earlier and it never happens. Something always happens and I rush in at the last minute. 

So here I am again squeaking in at the last minute. 

This weeks challenge at The Butterfly Effect was:

"STAR TREK" 

This has been one of the most fun projects I've done in a long time.

It's a mixed media project to the max and I think my oldest grandson is going to really like this one. 

First I did the background using two of those fantastic tint patterns I'm alway taking photos of at work.

I printed them on tissue paper and glued them to a 12 X16 inch canvas board.I tried really hard to draw a good "Enterprise" but after several failed attempts I printed one on another sheet of tissue paper and glued it to the picture. 

Then came Capt. Kirk :0) he turned much better than my space ships.

Paint Party Friday... I made it :0)

Was beginning to think I wasn't going to make it today. The computer has been off line all day and I was becoming rather unpleasant about the whole situation.

Was anxiously awaiting for my computer master to get home from work and fix it.... and then it wouldn't fix :0( 

He fiddled and faddled and used some very harsh words and then Wa Laa!! It started working again. 

So here's my little acrylic painting on a 5 x 7 inch watercolor paper blank note card. 

It's thundering outside :0) I sure hope it really rains this time..

My Birthday Art...Sorta :0)

Remember My Birthday Necklace?

My Birthday was last month and my daughter gave me a beautiful necklace she bought while in Africa:)

Here I am wearing it at the birthday party. 

I knew I wanted to create a background to hang it on  my wall. 

So this is what I ended up with and I am very happy with it :0) 

I found a piece of scrap plywood at work that had the shapes of the leaves in the wood pattern and best of all it was free. Wish I had taken a photo of the wood before I did anything to it. 

I stained the main parts of the wood and then made a stain glaze for the leaves. then I went over everything with a brown glaze and then a golden glaze. I then waxed the whole thing with paste wax and glued flat rope around it for the frame. I love it!!!

The heat is still with us so I'm spending lots of time indoors which is weird for me. I go out in late evening to tend to the garden for a bit and move the sprinkler about. 

Stay cool this week ! My project for this week is to clean and organize my studio so I can set up the new sewing machine and move my computer in there...can you see me happy dancing?

Didn't think I was going to make it this week. I've been working the closing shift all week and that really messes me up. The temps being over 100° every day hasn't helped either. Yesterday was 110°!! And it's only June! 

So much for the whining and on to the art. The theme this week at Butterfly Effect was the 80's. Who says the 80's more than 

Cyndi Lauper?! 

Not my best but it was fun. Might work on the hair a bit more ..we'll see.

Butterfly effect & Paint Party Friday

Under the African Sky

My daughter recently went on a 19 Day 

wonderful trip to Africa. 

Since she is so like her mother in many ways  

she has a gazillion pictures to share with us. 

This picture was in the first batch she shared.

I knew the minute I saw it  I wanted to paint it and probably in watercolors .

So today I drug all of my watercolor pencils and brushes out to the deck to paint. 

As I quickly tried to do the painting I started remembering all the things about watercolors I had forgotten.

Like don't erase on watercolor paper..it shows when you try to paint...... and don't paint outside on a windy day....it dries too fast.....and don't try to do it quickly. No matter how many other things you have to do that day :0( 

So I'm calling this one my practice piece for the Masterpiece that will get done later :0)

29 Faces, Paint Party Friday & Butterfly Effect :0)

Just barely squeezing in under the line for 29 Faces in May :0) 

Ever since they have start the advertising for " Dark Shadow" I have wanted to paint  Johnny Depp as Barnabas. Since the theme for Butterfly effect this week is "Vampires" I just had to try painting Johnny. 

I didn't think I was going to have the energy to finish him due to my Fibromyalgia giving me problems this week....but I pushed myself to get it done so I can participate and finish the whole May challenge :0)

29 Faces in May faces 27 & 28

The last few days have been very hard for me....my fibromyalgia has kicked my butt to the ground and I have barely gotten these 2 faces done and probably won't be able to do face 29 before the month is over. 

All thing considered I'm very proud to have gotten tis many done. I knew going in that May was a busy month for me and that I usually end up down for the count before the month is over. 

I have enjoyed visiting all of the blogs I was able to get to through the month  even if I didn't have or take the time to comment. You are all talented and generous people.

Day 27 is a computer doodle sketch:

about all I had the energy for yesterday.

Day 28 is a graphite drawing I've been working on a little bit at a time for several days now.  I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

I have another painting going but doubt that I'll be able to finish it today. Who knows...maybe I'll get a burst of energy later this evening :0)
