Paint Party Friday

Yes it's FRIDAY!

That wondrous day when all the beautiful people share their fantastic art with the rest of the world.....

...and then there is me...

...who is still waiting for her muse to wake up,return or what ever she must do so that I can be creative again.

This was last week....

This what it looks like today.... I stare at it every day and nothing else happens..  at least I like it so far even if it isn't finished and is very slow going. The one on the left has not changed at all since last week. 

 ...so since the painting thing wasn't working I decided to give gelli printing a try. The inspiration for this came when I was looking for a spice in the baking supplies and found an expired box of unflavored gelatin. I had saved a article on how to make your own gelli plate and I actually had the other ingredient to make it. 

 The bigger one was firm  and worked well ...the smaller one stayed soft and sticky . Here are two cards I printed the face of.....

... and here are just some random pages I printed on printer paper..

So Maybe if I keep playing with the gelli plate my muse will get jealous and come running back home :) 

  The Starlings are taking over the bird feeders :( I don't mind feeding them....but they try to chase away the other birds. 

This woodpecker was having done of it though and was really giving them a piece of his mind over it. 

 I started more seeds in jugs and plastic bottles for the outside "WinterSown" project....

.... started more inside in the traditional  grow flats with lights ...

... so when spring really gets here...I'll be very busy if all of these sprout and grow.

Paint Party Friday ...well Saturday then :)

It's Saturday! 

Which means I am late again for Paint Party Friday :-/ 

Seems to be the way I roll these days. 

Winter may have been late arriving here but arrive it has . Cold, snow, ice and wind have made our days barely tolerable. This soon will pass though and we'll be bathed in SUNSHINE and WARM BREEZES!

Not a whole lot of art this week either...

as couple of WIP  that I'm slowly working on. 

TRAVEL 

and....

WAVES.

Not sure exactly where they are going but we'll eventually get there. 

I shipped a box of my fiber arts to family this week and they shared this photo....

So I guess they were a hit :) 

So that's where we are this week here...

Paint Party Friday Friday-----Friday the THIRTEENTH!

YES IT IS! 

FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH!

Had I realized it earlier I would have put off trying several unsuccessful projects today. Especially those online tasks that just went bonkers and locked me out. I really need to pay more attention to the days and dates. Since being off work for 7 months I regularly don't know the day or date :(  I need to get more involved with living and not just  existing . 

Two weeks ago we found out that my husbands job would be gone March 6th....outsourced to another company. (  It's been hanging over our heads for about 18 months now. ) We found out 2 days ago that the new company has hired him....pending background check and drug test... Which should not be problem at all.

He is actually getting a promotion and a raise out of it so it's good. Just a little scary after 16 years with one company and at our age. Hopefully  we can both relax now and enjoy life a bit more. 

So there hasn't been very much art in the past couple of weeks... when stressed I either  go into a frenzy of art or just lock up.... this was a lock up event .

What I did get done is the background for my DreamWheel that I will be creating on the Spring Solstice. 

It's on a large poster that will go up on the wall in my art room. Replacing the one I did for the year 2013..... my years run from Spring to Spring :) 

I drew a circle on a grocery store add and painted it ...to this I will add photos and words that relate to my goals and ambitions for the following year. 

This week I also decided to challenge myself by knitting a hat instead of crocheting one. I haven't knitted in years and was never very good at it. 

It took me four evenings and believe me there are a lot of mistakes. Thank goodness the yarn hides them well. 

This one took me one evening to crochet and felt. So most of the hats will be crocheted for sure... but I'm challenging myself to knit at least one a month .... maybe 2 if I'm feeling energetic.

Paint Party Friday

It's Friday again and time to Party with the best :) 

It has been a productive week here . My energy seems to have finally restored itself and I'm loving it . 

I'm still Painting flowers and dreaming of summer. Inspired by the unseasonably warm weather we've been having here. With BRIGHT sunshine ♥ Makes me want to plant flowers but I know it's not a wise thing to do so I paint them . 

"A SINGLE SUMMER DAY"

A 8 x 10 inch canvas board done with acrylics and ink. 

"LOVE GROWS" 

a 8 x 8 inch gallery wrapped canvas with 1.5 in sides. This one is a mixed media canvas. 

I have a couple of sketches started but no pictures of those. 

The rest of my week was spent working on my fiber arts. 

I crocheted a wool hat with my first batch of hand dyed yarn and then I felted and shaped. 

I also made one with some purchased yarns.

Now I have to decide what type of hat to make with the second batch of blue yarn.

Winter has returned now so it will be a lot of cuddling by the fireplace and cooking I think for this coming week. :) Soups and breads sound real good .

T Stands for Tuesday

It's T for Tuesday! 

It was a beautiful day here today. We got the sunshine and warmer temperatures that I'm sure the East Coast is wishing they were having. 

For those of you in the path of that nasty storm....... Stay Safe !

I'm guessing that this week is going to be a fiber art week here. :) Last night I crocheted a hat using this yarn that I had dyed recently.....

I'm really happy with this color mix :) 

This morning I felted the hat and here it is drying....

Notice the  big mug of herbal tea ? How could you miss :) Love this mug too a Christmas gift from my future daughter-in-law. 

The crochet flower will be attached to the hat just not exactly sure where yet.  Have to wait until it's dry and then play with it a bit to figure that out. 

Yesterday I also dyed another lot of yarn using more blues and going for a darker shade... here it is wet.

I can barely wait for it to be dry so I can wind it up and see what it looks like. 

Some of you may remember that a couple of years ago I made 100 hats for charity.

Lots of friends and co-workers donated yarn for that and I have lots left so I have decided to do hats for charity again. I'm not setting a number to get done this year; just as many as I can. 

I've started a new painting too.... well it's rough sketched on a canvas board. 

As you can see I'm still stuck on the cone-flowers. Maybe my friend Valerie is right and I need the healing the cone-flowers offer.

Hi ! MY NAME IS CAROL!

My blog is SilverSpring Acres Labors of Love. 

I live in Missouri in the United States about 50 miles west of St. Louis. My home is on a 3 acre lot where I grow my flowers, vegetables and herbs and create my art. 

I have always been a creative person from early childhood . If I am not creating something I am not complete and will become a very irritable and unhappy person. 

I also love fiber arts and am a compulsive crocheter :) I love to dye yarn also. 

Currently I'm creating these adorable KITTY PODS for the fur babies in my life and for those who have felt a need to purchase one for their babies. 

 My art is often inspired by my garden and flowers....

I also love to do faces and things slightly on the whimsical side

I also love to make soaps, salves ,lotions, tinctures and teas using the herbs out of my garden .

So as you can see I bounce all over the place with my creative endeavors.
