T Stands for Tuesday

Hello again my Tuesday Friends!
Here we are in a brand new year already.
I don't do New Year Resolutions but I do choose a Guide word for the new year.
This year I have chosen
FINISH!
I have this really terrible habit of starting things and never finishing them :( So this year I am going to try really hard to break that habit...IF I CAN :/
I am having a four day weekend right now and it's been a creative one.
I started three new journals.... well I actually just did the covers for them..
I haven't decided what to do with the mini one yet so it only has a base coat.
Then I decided I would work on one of my unfinished projects.
I have a round cheese box that I sprayed a long while back and then didn't do anything else with it.
Since the husband was in the mood to do a marathon rerun of  "The Sapranos" it was the perfect chance to work on the box with some Zen-Doodles.
I forgot to take a picture of the box before I started. At least I hadn't done much when I remembered. :)
At this point I thought I was done ..but then decided to add dots ..
...and it was done and my fingers were cramped :)
This morning I decide to to put a gloss coat on it and with out thinking used the brush on instead of spraying.
You guessed it I'm sure the white ink started smearing ~*#~ So I dabbed off as much of the clear coat that had the smeary stuff and let it dry.
So then I started going over it with a paint pen. Even with the extra fine tip it wasn't as nice as the original but I think I salvaged the piece...
Not all of the original white was ruined so I think I am going to leave it like it is with the two different tones of white.
Here's a view of the side of the box.
Here it is again with my trusty cup of coffee..which I should have drank more of before I started today :)
So that's is what is happening  in my world this week . Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the other Tuesday Folks. Just click on the Blue Teapot on my sidebar.

  1. I had to laugh at you (in a good way) after you said your word this year was finish, and then announced you had started three new journals.

Sounds a bit like me, when I say I'm not starting a new Altered Book until I finish the one I'm working on, then voila! I start a new one. I've got five (NO SIX) going right now. I forgot my 7 Continents AB, because I've worked on it so long, I don't even count it anymore.

Your box is beautiful, and I actually like how the background shows through on the finished project. It's certainly a lesson learned, and I'm glad you shared it, so we don't make the same mistake. Of course, I don't doodle, so that wouldn't be a mistake I would make.

Thanks for sharing your new journals, your lovely box, your word for the year, and your coffee in that cute mug with us for T this week.

  2. Finish is a good word, I am also very good at STARTING projects! The cheese box looks good, and some white inks do smear if you varnish over them. But you did very well with it.
Happy T Day, have a good week and a good year, hugs, Valerie

  3. Finish is a great word... I am such a PROcrastinator! I love the "finished" box. I like being able to see the BG clearer! Good Morning Carol! It is cold this morning... Brrrrrr!

  4. Three new journals-wow! I like that you do your covers first. I have many journals complete -except I never did the covers. So this time (I just bought a new one) I am doing the covers first! I happen to love your doodled box-to me it says "winter wonderland". And of course your thoughts for the day are always such good ones. Happy T day!

  5. Your box is proof that there are "happy accidents" since I think it looks very interesting with the two shades of white. I was wondering how you managed to do such an intricate design without your hand smearing it while you worked. I've seen the Sopranos whole series twice now.

  7. Your journals look inviting and your cheese box is wonderful! Those always look too good to put in the recycle bin. The background and your layers of wonderful white doodles are really special. I have read that perfectionists do not like finishing things because well you know. Your word would certainly keep me busy although sometimes I think START/BEGIN should be my word ;-)
Thank you for your sharing your art and thoughts too.
Happy T Day dear Carol oxo

  8. Love your word for the year...I can so identify! I have two unfinished quilts that have been put away for years. Love the way you box turned out...you salvaged it very creatively and I really like the two tones. Have fun with those new journals...happy T day and Happy New Year!

  9. Looks like you did a fine job of saving your box. I like the way it turned out, and I can't imagine anyone would think it was meant to look any different.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  10. I prefer the two tones of white. One of those happy mistakes!
Even though I posted last time I never was able to make it around, sorry. But this week--happy T-Day!! :)

  11. Finish is an excellent word. I suffer from that same thing. I start so many things and then the sit or worse yet...get buried in the back of a cabinet to be unearthed years later. I'm having that issue with a cowl I am loom knitting. I came up with my own pattern but now it has sat idle so long I can't remember the stitches.
    Happy T day...way late!
