Sp happy that it's time for 

Paint Party Friday 

again. 

Thanks to Eva and Kristin for all the work the do to keep us going :) 

I actually have a piece of new art for this week. 

I signed up for a new class at  Jeanne Oliver Designs with Kate Thompson. It's called 

"Children of the Wild" 

and I'm very excited to be doing  it.

Children of the Wild

It's a self paced class and you have life time 

access to the material. 

Here is my first practice piece and when they

say mixed media they really mean it. 

This piece is just several types of paints, and 

pencils . 

This is supposed to  be a  Caracal Cat . Which

is a wild cat from Africa, the Middle East and

India.  This is a photo of one...

 

I don't normally do animals so this is a challenge for me. Trying something out of my comfort zone. 

It's miserably hot and humid outside so yard  work is still getting done in the evening after the sun goes down.  I'm watering like crazy as the rain is still missing us . Just thundering as it passes on by :( 

The turtles have moved to the flowerbeds so they can stay cooler and still wet and the bugs are all there for them too. :) 

I'm keeping myself busy drying and labeling herbs for later use. 

So that's what going on in my world these days :)

Paint Party Friday

It's Friday and time to go the big 

Paint Party with Eva & Kristin. 

A weekly gathering of kindred spirits who enjoy the world of creative painting and other such things ! 

Only one project this week...

...another little burlap bag that my rice comes in. This time I decided to go with a butterfly theme and so meet

The Monarch Queen. 

Here's the first bag I painted a couple of months ago.

The bags come looking like this...

...we eat a lot of rice so it doesn't take us long to go through a 2 pound bag. I've been using them to take my snacks to work with me . Just perfect for an apple , yogurt and a drink. 

It's summer and the heat is here now. It's been miserable with heat in the upper 90°s and the humidity almost as high. Any yard work has been done in the late evening and early mornings. The flowers are going nuts thought with the heat.

Paint Party Friday

It's been a stressful couple of weeks here. First the virus thing that wouldn't go away and then one of those phishing scams that I didn't click on but wouldn't let me use the computer for like 12 hrs. grrrrrrr!!!!

We are all cleaned up and ready to go now :D

I'm still spending most of my days outside... it's getting warmer though so those will be  becoming shorter. I just don't handle the heat well any longer :(  Luckily today was cooler and overcast so I got a lot done this morning :) 

 I finished the butterfly mixed media this week...

...and I also painted a small butterfly house for my garden. I don't expect the butterflies tp actually use the houses but they are cute :)

and at some point in the recent past I finally finished the crazy bird painting ...although I may change the background on it . Who knows ?
