Sp happy that it's time for
Paint Party Friday
again.
Thanks to Eva and Kristin for all the work the do to keep us going :)
I actually have a piece of new art for this week.
I signed up for a new class at Jeanne Oliver Designs with Kate Thompson. It's called
"Children of the Wild"
and I'm very excited to be doing it.
Here's a link if you'd like to check it out .
It's a self paced class and you have life time
access to the material.
Here is my first practice piece and when they
say mixed media they really mean it.
This piece is just several types of paints, and
pencils .
This is supposed to be a Caracal Cat . Which
is a wild cat from Africa, the Middle East and
India. This is a photo of one...
I don't normally do animals so this is a challenge for me. Trying something out of my comfort zone.
It's miserably hot and humid outside so yard work is still getting done in the evening after the sun goes down. I'm watering like crazy as the rain is still missing us . Just thundering as it passes on by :(
The turtles have moved to the flowerbeds so they can stay cooler and still wet and the bugs are all there for them too. :)
I'm keeping myself busy drying and labeling herbs for later use.
So that's what going on in my world these days :)
Today's Random Thoughts.

Beautiful painting, looks great. We had more than enough rain again all night, with heavy storms, ouch! Wish we could send you some. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

what a gorgeous cat carol!!! I'm in one of J Oliver's classes too and like it very much. I may have to look into this one-when I'm finished with at least my Radiant faces class:):) Love your dried herbs in the jars. I always say I'm going to do that too...have a great weekend and I hope it rains-a lot for you!
ReplyDeleteOh I love your scaredy cat, such a great expression... I love the mixed media you used!! I love how it differentiates from the original.. You make him less scary and more scared! Well done!!
ReplyDeleteSent a photo of your herbs to Cupcake as inspiration...she has only done rosemary so far!!
Any special secret to drying it? Love the quotes as always...you are so right...people will judge you no matter what... I say that all the time!! "It's none of my business what you say about me!" is how I respond!! Great post...You should try and do a your turtle in that mixed media process!

Wow, that's a weird looking cat ... and your painting of it is so beautiful! Really well done. I've been thinking of doing this workshop, but I still have some workshops that I paid for and didn't finish yet, so it might be for another time. But it sure looks interesting, and I love what you've done so far!
ReplyDeleteI think you caught the likeness of the cat perfectly. I actually like your drawing better than the picture because yours has personality and the original looks rather bland compared to it. We need the rain here in NH too. We are going to heat up by Monday, but the last few days have been beautiful, but like you, we've had to water the gardens. We need even one good day of rain. maybe we'll both get some this new week. Hugs-Erika

You did wonderful with the cat... Like the tilt of the head and the expression. HOT here too and we managed to get a quarter of an inch which did nothing. Fingers crossed for something today.
ReplyDeleteYour cat sketch is delightful ~ well done and lovely variety on your post ~ all very creative ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Day and Week to you ~ ^_^
You gave the cat some great personality. I love the photos too. Have a wonderful Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYour African cat is beautiful. The color is right on. Its ears resemble the lynx. I guess they must be cousins. I have herbs but I never thought to dry them. And I have a dehydrator I use to dry fruits. DH would sometimes make jerky with it. Love the turtle photo.
ReplyDeleteWonderful theme work. Like your cat better than the real thing:-)
