Paint Party Friday.....Week 42....the last for 2011

It's been a WOW kind of year here and it's hard to believe it's almost over.

With all of the hustle and bustle of the Holidays I haven't been doing too much art the past week or so. 

I sat down with my journal a couple of days ago and wrote a short message to myself. I could have listed all of the material things I received this year but I realized the the greatest gift I have is my family.... and the time I spend with them. So I printed and cut out small photos of most of them and glued them to the pages. I outlined them with glitter paint ...because they are my jewels.

I'll add the rest of the family as soon as I get more Printer ink ....sob...

Sunday Sketches

After all of the Angels that sometimes turned into dancers...I had to do a dancer straight out...and she had to look young....

Color requirements where..Pink and lavender and a little bit of blue.... 

I hope she looks young enough and I think I have the colors right.....

Have I mentioned before that I really don't like commission work :0(  I'm honored that someone likes my work enough to ask me to paint something just for them....but I always feel extra pressured to do what they want and not just paint what I'm feeling at the time. Hopefully I've painted what they imagined or at least close enough to make them happy.

Paint Party Friday.....Week 40....

One more Dancing Angel

After sharing photos of my "Dancer"

with co-workers one of them ordered a smaller piece only he wanted wings on this one. 

So I whipped out another one and framed her. I'll be donating this money to the fundraiser too. 

She is a 9" X 12" piece.... When I delivered her to work another co-worker saw her and now I have two more orders to so by next Thursday...one child dancer and one dancing angel. Gotta love the Holidays for the sales opportunity...... but the additional stress I could do with out. 

Actually our Christmas with all of the kids is tomorrow so next week will be a lot easier for me.  Today is another story all together. I shouldn't be on here at all today :0)

So off I go to finish up all of the last minute craziness and to try and salvage another house plant from the "terrorist" cats. Why is it that they never knock over a pot when the soil is dry and easy to clean up....it's always after you have watered and there is mud all over the floor :0(

Christmas arrives at my house on Saturday....as in like..... less than 48 hours here and I AM NOT READY!

No where even close to being ready! 

I still have two gifts to  complete and the house looks like a tornado ripped through it and did a U-turn. 

My husband has been working an ungodly number of overtime for a month now so all the prep is entirely  up to me. Not a problem normally.....but this is not a normal year. 

So I've cut way back on the decorations....I mean who really needs to put out 87 International Santa's and a Snow Village with more buildings than the town I live in.....  and it's going to be a really low keyed brunch type meal .....in the early afternoon. I love brunch food 24 hours a day....doesn't everyone? :0)

Since I'm scaling back on everything else....I'm cheating on the blog postings too....don't waste your time going to my other blogs....I'm just going to copy and paste this one to it and call it a day....after I eat the over cooked peanut butter fudge that looks like crap but taste very good :0)

So if you don't hear from me till next week don't panic .... the sugar will wear off soon and life will return to something some what normal.

Paint Party Friday.....Week 39....

She's done :0)

I tried to give her a face ...but she wasn't having any of that business. So I just gave her more hair and highlights through out the whole painting and called it quits. She will hang on my wall until it's time to go to the auction. 

I showed her off at work and a couple of people are interested in a smaller version of her so I am working on that now. Who knows if they will turn out :0) I tend to get hung up of commissioned projects. Need to work on that if I ever want to seriously sell anything. 

For now I think I will just join the cats in their favorite pastime...

.....and just lay in front of the fire and snooze!

Butterfly Effect ------Broken Pieces

I didn't get around to making anything new for this theme but I did want to share my Mosaic Pot with you.

I must first confess that I am a "Creative Supplies Hoarder!"  For years(12 or more at least ) I have been collecting broken pieces of ceramic and glass dishes, tiles, you name it .... I've saved it. Always with the intention of creating something. Five years ago I started this project and it got shoved aside as life got in my way.....in October while cleaning out the basement I unearthed it and decided it's day for completion had come!  I used the inner tub out of an old washing machine as the pot. So now I have a giant planter to set next to my fish pond :0) It will probably be the home of the Elephant Ear that you see in the last picture. 

I still have tons of broken pieces and an old water heater tank that will become my next mosaic masterpiece :0) I'm picturing either a tower or a bench....

Paint Party Friday.....Week 38......Work in Progress

Now that November is over I have decided to work on a bigger canvas. When I sat down and started painting this one I had it in my mind to do an Angel. The paint and canvas had a different muse going on and she became a dancer instead :0)

This is larger than what I usually work on. It measures 22 X 28 inches and when completed I will be donating it for an auction to help raise money for my brother-in-laws cancer treatment. The auction is on Feb. 4th so I'm hoping to get several more paintings done by then.
