Paint Party Friday June 6, 2014

It's FRIDAY!!!!!
Thanks again Eva and Kristin for hosting this fun event and congrats to Tammie for being the feature artist of the week. Beautiful flowers and I admire your determination to paint every day :)
It's been an absolute crazy week here.... everything is growing like crazy and I can't keep up , plus we have a new temporary resident at the house who demands lots of hands on attention all day long.
Meet "FUZZ"  :)

He's a baby Robin that the dog found in the yard on Monday.
Let me tell you that baby birds eats lots of food and very often. I can't imagine being a Moma bird and having to feed several babies at a time and having to go out and catch the food on top of it. Exhausting!!!!
Fuzz is doing very well and has more than doubled in size since moving in on Monday. He goes to work with me and stays on an ice cream carton at the paint desk. He is already trying to fly and is so funny when I let him out to play in the bathroom at home. He has a very roomy tote that he lives in there.
I think he has outgrown the coconut shell nest but he still sticks his head in there at night.
So Fuzz is my art inspiration for this week. It's been a very long time since I tried to do a realistic bird drawing or painting but I think I did  a decent job of it. The little tuft of hair( feathers)  on his head is where I got his name from and it's pretty much gone now :(

I finally got the Hummingbird feeder out and they are regular visitors to the deck now. I love watching them and trying to get good photos of them .
I even managed to get the fish pond cleaned out and the fountain running. Will put the fish back in it today...
Then I have to start harvesting the herb garden which is getting totally over grown with all of this rain.

Paint Party Friday

It's Friday again and I actually have art to share. Seems I'm only getting here every other week this year. But I check everyone else out every week :)
This weeks art is a 5x7 inch card that I made to send my daughter.
She is an avid fan of the Grateful Dead and even followed them on tour the last year that Jerry Garcia was alive. Memories for life were made that year. Now she's all grown up and married with kids and has gone back to school and is now working on her Doctorate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Our schedules are so busy that we don't get to see each other often and I've really been missing her a lot the past 2 weeks. A road trip is in my near future!
Here's the art...

Still spending most of my free time outside these days. Here's a few shots of what's blooming this week.
This is the only Iris I have left blooming and it just happens to be my favorite :) I'm thinking that this fall I am going to plant some re-blooming Iris .
My Rose's are a little worse for the wear this year. The trellis these climb on broke in one of the late winter storms we had this Spring  :( and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. So much repair work this year after such a brutal winter.
Even the peonies only had a few blooms... but they were beautiful .
I've started a new Wisteria Vine , growing up and around an old basketball hoop.

I started it 3 years ago from a runner off my big vine out back and this is the first year it has bloomed. I've trimmed it up some and wrapped it around the hoop more since these photos but it's pouring outside so no new photo. It does look much better and I have a bigger concrete pot to replant it in. I'm hoping it starts looking more like a tree soon

The bleeding hearts are one of the few shade flowers that survived the winter. Most of my hosta's didn't :(

So that' s it for the flowers .
Todays thoughts....

Paint Party Friday

Another Friday already and time to join Eva and Kristin in another fun Paint Party Friday!!! Thank you ever so much for hosting this...some weeks it's the only motivator I have for my art.
Last week I thought I posted a couple of WIP photos but I don't see them ...so here they are (hopefully) again.

The on going flower theme  :)
This week I worked on one of them for a bit and this is where it is now...
It's not done yet....but I'm still not sure where it's going.
Rain and cold weather has moved back in and I've had "down" time this week. My body reacts unfavorably to weather changes and I just have to let it rest  a lot when that happens. I did get some flower photos and since some of you asked me to share last week here are a few.

Ok so maybe it was more than a few...but you did ask :)

Paint Party Friday

It's REALLY Spring!
After the ever so long and ever so cold winter Spring has finally arrived to stay. So the last few weeks have found me mostly outside working in the yard. I've tried to get in some art here and there but it's been difficult when all I can think of is what I'm going to plant where and when :)
I'm so far behind in my life book that I'll probably be retired before it's finished .....and that's a few years away yet.
Here is the only art project that I did get totally finished since I posted last....way back in early April.

It's my first ever pop-up art and one of the lessons in LifeBook. Week six actually so now you know just how far behind I really am.
Here are a couple of WIP's that really have no definition of where they are going yet ...other than I have flowers on my mind :)
Today's thought...

Paint Party Friday

Friday Again!
Time is zipping by without me even realizing it. I totally missed last weeks party....I was playing outside in the garden and zoned right out :)
Now a lot of art going on here  a few pages in my garden journal and some doodling.
I've planted  a rather large selection of seeds already this year. Some started indoors and some direct planted outdoors. I can barely wait to see all of the color :)

I have an addiction to Sunflowers and Dandelions. I'm probably the only person in my subdivision that saves and actually  plants dandelion seeds.

I've also found a new crochet pattern that I am totally addicted to. It's a ruffled scarf pattern using a a single strand of yarn and not one of the newer yarns that are made to ruffle. Most of these scarves will be donated to charity.

Only one doodle this week since I've been mostly crocheting on my lunch hours.

Today's thoughts....

As always don't forget to click on the Paint Party Friday link in my sidebar.... lots and lots of majorly cool artist there who share amazing work every week :) ♥
