Paint Party Friday

It's Friday!!!!!
It's SPRING and it's warm....at least for today :)
Since yesterday was the first day of Spring and the weather was actually feeling it I decided to do a flower painting. I watched a video on Carla Sonheim's blog
www.carlasonheim.wordpress.com
(I know the link won't work...but type it in and you'll get there I hope)
A quick art lesson with Diane Culhane.
It was fun and here is the results... you can tell I didn't follow the directions exactly :)

I started with a background I already had laying around ...almost forgot to take a picture of the before.

Started filling in the background

And then used a maker to outline and give the flowers detail.... kinda wish I hadn't done the details in the flower centers...but it's there so it stays. Did lighten them up a bit with alcohol and a Q-tip.

Then I decided I would do a cover on a new journal I'm starting for my garden this year.
We'll see how well I keep up with that :)

It's a Strathmore  5.5 X 8.5 inch mixed medium journal .

I hope to keep track of my garden progress this year with notes and drawings, small quick paintings and photos of my garden. We'll see how well I do with it :)

Some thoughts for today...

  1. Carol, that is a fascinating and new-to-me technique. I actually like the light doodads in the flower centers. I think it adds to rather than detract. Lovely results. It is so much fun to learn new things from PPF artists.
