Yeah!!!!! It's Friday !!!!
Thanks again to Eva and Kristin for this fabulous opportunity!!!
Big congrats to Valerie as the featured artist of the week. Always love her art.
This is "Wonder"
I thought she was finished but the more I look at her, I'm thinking she's not.
We'll see.
I'm still working on the wood piece.
I've taken it outside and sprayed it and dripped on it and I think this is where the background is going to stay.
Still tossing around a couple of ideas for it but haven't come to s definite decision yet. It will tell me when it's ready to.
Here is what I have so far
Just rough sketches on paper so far...
Leaning slightly more towards the first one.... we'll see.
The flowers continue to bloom and I'm letting one of my Tulsi (Holy) Basil go to seed. I'll gather some and let others reseed as they will in that bed. It's my favorite medicinal basil and it taste great too so it can be used like regular basil for cooking. I make a ice tea with it that I love.
Some random thoughts for today....

Yes, one has to believe i magic. Lovely post, great photos, and love 'wonder', she is gorgeous. I am looking forward to see how the wood panel will progress. Thanks for the shout out, you are so kind! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWonder is wonderful, especially that fantastic hair! I think she's finished. The only thing I could see that might be different is to slightly darken that left and right purple to balance the dark top of the painting. But knowing how computer images don't mirror the real thing, it may be really dark already. Your WIP is certainly very exciting, Carol. I can't wait to see what you put on top of that wonderful background. I let my mint go to seed because the bees were so excited over the flowers. Bees are getting scarce so I want to encourage their existence.
ReplyDeleteI love Wonder's forehead accents, so beautiful! That work in progress looks fantastic already!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful. I also love your creative idea for a background and your sketches are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour Wonder is fantastic. Love her hair! Great background. I also love your random thoughts.:) Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI would like to have Wonder's hair instead of my fine, limp, thin, short hair!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing some summer blooms!
Yes I am a believer in Happy!! Beautiful painting...can't wait to see the ones with drips finished!! Thanks for sharing your pretty flowers!!

I really love that texture in the background. And it will look fabulous with one of the 2 drawings on top. I'm jealous of Wonder's curls .... Always wanted to have a head full of curls like that :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to see how your work is going further. Lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteOohhh myyyy. This portrait is stunning. Her eyes and expression is just wonderful. I love her hair too.
